Borderline Syndrom

DAVID SAUDEK, JAROSLAV VALEČKA

The exhibition project entitled “Borderline Syndrome” is a creative discussion among the artists David Saudek, Jaroslav Valečka and Martin Káňa, who took the path of revolving around the subject of the so-called displacement of the German population from the Czech lands after the Second World War as well as Czech-German co-existence throughout the borderline areas of the Sudeten. The authors were genuinely surprised by the clearness and suddenness with which an increasing number of links between their own lives and the histories of their families began surfacing just in front of them. In autumn 2015, their project will moreover be joined by two leading German artists, brothers Hansjürgen and Lothar Joachim Gartners, as the authentic eyewitnesses of the displacement in the Karlovy Vary Art Gallery. The shared aim of all the participants is to confront the visions of the given events via artistic means and to behold this section of history outside any external censorship.
